Venus was jealous of Psyche because Psyche was pretty and she was taking all the attention away from Venus. It does make sense that Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, was jealous because she is supposed to be the ultimate beauty and when someone takes all of the attention away from her why wouldn't she be jealous and angry.
