Venus was jealous of Psyche because Psyche was stealing the attention of mortals from Venus. Her temples were empty because people would blankly stare at Psyche in admiration. It makes plenty of sense that the Goddess of love and beauty would get jealous, because some mortal is taking away the purpose of her existence. The moral of the story is to never give in to temptation and have faith in the ones you love.
