http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/the-isolating-effects-of-anxiety/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ScientificAmerican-Twitter+%28Content%3A+Global+Twitter+Feed%29

This article identifies the isolating effects of anxiety. Scientific studies have proven that those experiencing anxiety are impeded and unable to take the perspective of another. This information is valuable to help diagnose problems in the collaborative learning setting. Students who experience anxiety will not be able to fully reap the educational benefits of group work due to not being able to embrace the perspective of students in the cohort. Problem solving and 21st century learning hinges on students being able to work and learn from one another and this requires each to see through the eyes of group members. Before setting students loose in group work we must make sure they feel safe, calm, and confident.
