My favorite book I read this summer was Umbrella Summer. I especially enjoyed the quirks of the main character. She was a bit of a hypochondriac, but for good reason. Her brother died from a rare disease that was almost impossible to detect. For this reason, the main character frequently dons band-aides, a helmet, knee pads, and even wrist guards. What a sight! I thought this book was extra special because it made me laugh and cry, sometimes within the same chapter.
