I loved Trish Hart's quote, "It is free like a puppy, not like a beer."  Although this is hilarious to me, it made me think of why and how Moodle has become so popular among its competition.  Moodle certainly has comparable capabilities and is working very well for Mrs. Tipton the "Moodle" mover in her district.  I think she has a great idea to look for grants so that she can get a classroom set.  That really would be the best way for me to fully use Moodle in my classroom too.

I agree Michelle! A classroom set is the best way to use Moodle in elementary and middle school classes.

I'm glad to learn that there are other options and that competition is building with free course management software. I feel pretty good about Moodle, but still feel like it isn't as user friendly as I want it to be.

I'm a bit spoiled. I want a program that is so intuitive and easy to use that I don't have to look up directions on how to use it. I think that is because I have always had a Mac and they are set up to be pretty easy to figure out.

I haven't used Blackboard as a teacher, but did like it as a student.
