2) Choose one of the ancient Greek or Roman sources. Describe this source. How has this source been important throughout history? How is this source still important today? Why?
The Greek source I chose is the Odyssey by Homer. I believe The Odyssey is the second written record of Greek mythology. Almost everyone knows about the Iliad and the Odyssey or at least the most people do. The Odyssey is about the Greek gods and goddesses and their stories. I think the Odyssey is still important because it tells us how the Greeks have grown and what the early Greeks needed to believe.
3) Share and discuss everyone’s research. What do these sources have in common? What do they, as a whole, say about Greek and Roman mythology?
4) What myths exist in our own culture? What ancient sources exist to support these myths? What sources today might someday be considered important sources that support our myths? Explain.
Myths that exist today are the Easter bunny. the tooth fairy, and Santa Claus. Santa Claus is based off of a man, a long time ago, who defied a king and gave presents to children on December 25 which now know as Christmas. this is just one example of the many, many myths we have today that were created for children.
