  • WELCOME TO MIDDLE SCHOOL BAND!

    Calendar at a Glance:

     

    September 25, 2014  In-school Band Night Practice- Students will report to the HS stadium at 12:30 with instruments and music.  We will practice with the HS band and then return to the MS between 1:30-2:00.  All students need instruments and flip books with music.

    September 26, 2014 Band Night, Report time 5:30 to HS cafeteria.  Dress is blue and T-shirts, black pants and sneakers.  Dress for the weather: if students need to add something warm UNDER their T-shirts, they may.  Please stick with something black, blue, white or gray as these are our uniforms for the evening.  We will play pre-game with the HS band, probably starting at about 6:20.  We will then move into the stands and play pep tunes with the HS band for the first half of the game.  After the opposing team's half-time performance, students will be dismissed to put instruments away.  Students may leave at this time or re-enter the game for FREE with his/her band T-shirt on.

     October 14, 2014 Tailgate Party Performance.  Students will play pep tunes at the MS tailgate party and then proceed to the MS football game at the stadium.  Cost is $2 and includes pizza, wings, chips, drinks and other snacks!  We will play the SSB at the beginning of the MS football game and then stay for the first game to play pep tunes in the stands.  LOTS of fun!  Aprox. dismissal time is 5:30.  Wear band T-shirts.

    November 2014 After school rehearsals in preparation for the winter concert TBA, if necessary.

    December 8-10, 2014 Final rehearsalS for the Holiday Concert. All students need instruments and music. Students will come to the HS auditorium for the final practice. SCHEDULE TO COME!

    December 10, 2014 (Wednesday) Holiday Concert AND assembly. We will be presenting an afternoon assembly for the student body FROM 1:30-2:30  Parents or family members who cannot attend the evening concert are welcome to attend.  Plan to sign in (using the Raptor system, bring your drivers license) at the high school main entrance.  

    For the evening concert, students need to report the the HS band room by 6:45.  Dress is formal concert attire- black pants, white dress shirt, a tie for boys (any color) and dark colored dress shoes. The concert begins at 7:30 PM in the High School Auditorium.  This concert will feature all of our performing ensembles in the MS and should last just over an hour.  You are in for a real treat!  

    December 17-19, 2014 (Wed-Fri) Jazz Band Auditions, AM auditions between 8:00-11:00. Sign up sheet will be posted on bulletin board.

     

    February ??, 2015 (Friday) Professional Group Pictures for all music groups. Wear black and white concert attire to school.

    April 19-22 , 2015  In-school final concert rehearsals, schedule TBA

    April 22, 2015 (Wednesday)Spring Band Concert, 7:30 PM, High School Auditorium   

    April ??, 2015 (Saturday) Hanover Jazz Festival, details TBA

    May ??, 2015 (Friday)  Spring Grove Jazz Festival, details TBA

    May 22, 2015 (Friday) End-of-the-year Music Deaprtment trip to Hershey Park.  Adjudication and day of fun! Details TBA

    May 25, 2015 (Monday) Dallastown Memorial Day Parade, 9:00 AM (Report to MS band room at 8:00 AM).  Dress is black pants, blue band T-shirts, and sneakers.

    Please refer the the band information document for details (attendance/grades) on the requirements to attend this trip.

    Students must have excellent attendance to rehearsals and sectionals and have no lower than an "S" for each marking period.
